Objective: To detect the expression levels of DLEC1and LMO4in non-small cell lungcancers (NSCLC) and tumor adjacent tissues (TAT), and to evaluate their correlations withthe occurrence and development of non-small cell lung cancer and clinical significances. Methods: Samples from37surgically resected NSCLCs were collected, and all thecases were pathologically diagnosed. We took the tumor tissue (tumor, T) and pairedtumor-adjacent tissue (TAT) as controls. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect theprotein expressions of DLEC1and LMO4. And the levels of mRNA of DLEC1and LMO4were detected by real time fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR technique. Results: The negative expression rate of DLEC1protein in NSCLC tissues was70.3%(26/37)which was higher than that in corresponding tumor adjacent tissues60.9%(14/37)(p<0.05). The DLEC1expression was significantly negative correlated with TNM stageand lymphatic invasion. The high expression rate of LMO4protein in NSCLC tissues was81.1%(30/37) which was significantly higher than that in corresponding tumor adjacenttissues51.4%(19/37)(p<0.05). The LMO4expression was significantly positive correlatedwith histology, TNM stage and lymphatic invasion. According to the results of real time fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR, the expression of DLEC1in tumor tissues was0.85times than that in tumor adjacent tissues(p<0.05). While, the expression of LMO4in tumortissues was3.33times than that in tumor adjacent tissues (p<0.05).Conclusion:1. The expression of DLEC1was lower in NSCLC compared with tumoradjacent tissues, and the degree was correlated with lymphatic invasion and TNM stage.2. The expression of LMO4was higher in NSCLC compared with tumor adjacent tissues, and the degree was correlated with histology, TNM stage and lymphatic invasion.3. The changes of the expressions of DLEC1and LMO4may play an important role in theoccurrence and development process of NSCLC. They may be important indicators for theearly diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer.
