Background: Bronchial asthma shorter form asthma is one of themost common chronic disease, the study of The Asthma Alliance showedthat there have been300millions asthmatic patients in the world[1],in ourcountry, there have been about10millions asthmatic patients in children, the prevalence of asthma in children is1.05%~4.00%, in some individualareas is even up to5%, and has a upward trend. If asthma cannot becontrolled, it will bring about a series of problems, even threat life. Thetimely diagnosis and proper treatment can significantly decrease socialeconomic burden produced by asthma, and enhance the quality of life. The study about the burden of asthma and asthma control in our countryis less, especially the asthma in children, although the case rate in3-5years old is higher[3,4]. Then, to further understand the diagnosis, therapyand control of the disease is necessary. The MSD corporation bid for theprogram in2012, professor ZhongNanshan from Guangzhou respiratorydisease research institute, professor LinJiangtao from China-JapaneseFriendship Hospital and professor ShenKunling from Beijing Children’sHospital are the main researcher. The survey is planning to investigate8000asthmatic patients in80hospitals in the whole nation, there are 4000asthmatic patients in children among, our department is one of them. The results of the survey will contribute to further clarify the control andtherapy of asthmatic outpatients who visit in out department.Objective:①Count the ratio of control, partial control anduncontrol among the asthmatic outpatients.②Compare the ratio ofasthma combining with AR to those which do not combine with AR, andknow the differences between them.③Describe the current treatmentand medical resource usage.④assess the effect of asthma on quality oflife by quality of life inventory. Methods: The study is cross sectional, single center, observationalstudy, the research center as a unit, the object of study is the outpatientclinic for patients with asthma in the study period(2012.10-2012.11), thevisit reasons can concern to the new diagnosis/original diagnosis or not,the visit reasons can include malaise, diagnosis, therapy, consult or otherhealth related projects. The clinician select the research objects whoaccord with the inclusion/exclusion criteria(including cough variantasthma, CVA). The doctor will ask the qualified(accord with theinclusion/exclusion criteria)guardians of the children the intention toparticipate in the study, if they want to take part in the study, the guardianwill sign informed consent form(ICF); The doctor will use case reportform(CRF)to collect the data of the research objects; All of the qualifiedasthmatic patients or their guardians have to fill the c-ACT/ACT to assess the asthma control and complete the PedsQL3.0or PAQLAQ scale toassess the effect of asthma on quality of life. All of the assessment haveto complete in that very day. The research will not influent therapeuticdecision-making or guide the doctor to some special laboratoryexamination. We will use standard methods to collect, analysis andevaluation data.Results:①There are100cases of children with asthma in thisstudy, the4-11(72/100)years old were mostly. In all of patients withasthma, according to GINA program, the control completely is49cases,32cases are partial control, none control are19cases, the percentagerespectively is49.0%,32.0%and19.0%.②39cases of asthma inchildren with AR, the percentage of all asthmatic patients is39.0%,among the children with AR, the patients which are between7and11years old were mostly, the percentage is (24/39)61.54%.③The regularusage ratio of medicine, according to the guidance of the doctor, greaterthan90%is accounted for70%, the regular use rate less than50%isaccounted for10%; children with asthma in remission stage of asthmainhaled corticosteroid(ICS)use was76%.④In the last year, accordingto asthma attack affect normal scholar accounted for46%, influence ofparents or relatives normal workers accounted for42%.⑤The quality oflife of children with asthma is positively correlated with asthma control, the high scale of children with asthma is in good condition. Conclusion:①The control level of all qualified asthmaticoutpatients is quite satisfactory.②The retio of children who combinewith AR is quite high, in all of the qualified objects combining with AR,the years above7were mostly.③The use rate of ICS is higher than10years ago, prompting that the parents of children with asthma canunderstand asthma as a chronic respiratory disease further.④Althoughthe use rate of ICS has improved, still nearly half of children and theirparents delay school or delay work because of asthma attack.⑤Asthma-related quality of life(HRQoL)in children with asthma isassociated with children asthma control level.
