Discussing The Functional Activities Of Qi In Shao-yang Disease

Objective:By exploring the provisions of Treatise on febrile disease which were related to shao-yang disease, on the bases of the pathological change of shao-yang pivot, discussing and uncovering the theoretic system of functional activities of shao-yang qi, in hope to found an effective theory platform for clinical practice and further theory discussing.Methods:A raw, but well acknowledged theoretical frame of functional activities of qi would be defined from a great number of selected ancient TCM works and literal clinical cases. Then comparing and contrasting the theoretical frame with the Treatise on febrile disease related to the pathological change of shao-yang qi, in order to understand more clearly the six-meridian syndrome differentiation and treatment system, and the true value of the system in clinical practice.Results:There was a relatively sound theory system of six-meridian’s functional activities of qi contained in Treatise on febrile disease, which was reveled in the book as a loop never stopped. Zhang-zhongjing applied the theory system into his clinical practice, which set the example to the following generation. The practitioners next to him were inspired by him and did a lot of work to make the system more completed.Conclusion:By revealing the fact that the function of shao-yang pivot could affecting the whole six-meridians system to clear that, there should be a functional activities of qi theory penetrating through all of Zhang-zhongjing’s six-meridians syndrome differentiation and treatment practice. Thus a close attention should be paid to the theory of functional activities of qi, as a loop never broken in human body, when exploring the six-meridians disease differentiation and treatment system and practicing the system to clinical work.
