ObjectivesTo investigate the mental health status include anxiety, depression, social avoidance and distress of patients with psoriasis. Raise the awareness of the mental problem of the patients with psoriasis. To explore and analyze the influencing factors of the mental health status. Thus to provide theoretical basis for medical staff to implement health education.Subjects and Methods1. Patients with psoriasis who were hospitalized between March2012and September2012at the Dermatology Clinic in Jinan were recruited by convenient sampling method and were investigated with questionnaire packages including General Information questionnaire, PASI, knowledge of psoriasis, SDS, SAS, SSRS, Social avoidance and distress scale, TCSQ.2. Quantitative data were analyzed by SPSS17.0, social-demography data, disease characteristics, patients’mental health status were analyzed by frequency, rate, mean and standard deviation. Analysis of variance was used to compile statistics of the different level of patients’psychological status. The Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze relationship between mental status and PASI, social support, trait coping styles. Mental status scores as the dependent variable, perceived severity of illness, social support and trait coping style score as independent variables, multiple stepwise regression analysis was used to discuss influencing factors of mental status.Results1.102patients aged16to77were enrolled in this study, and the average age was (51.63±14.63) years old; Among102patients,59(57.8%)were males and43(41.2%)females. There were82(80.4%) cases of vulgaris psoriasis,9(8.8%) cases of pustule psoriasis,8cases arthropathic psoriasis, and3cases of erythrodermic psoriasis. The mean score of PASI is18.97±10.33.2.The mean score of SDS was59.50±10.89points, and the incidence of depression is80(78.4%). The incidence of psoriasis anxiety (SAS) was39.2%, and the mean score of SAS is50.23±8.66points. The score of SAD is14.2±7.17points. The lever of SAS, SDS, SAD were higher than the norm, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05).3. There were statistically significant differences of mental health status among different gender, ages, occupation, style of paid medical expenses, economic status, severity of illness, types of disease(P<0.05), and the difference is insignificant among different education levers. Pearson correlation analysis showed that SAS, SDS, SAD were significantly positively correlated with severity of illness, negative coping style, but significant negatively correlated with social support and positive coping style. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the main factors influencing the metal status of patients were coping style, social support, and severity of illness. Social support, PASI, and negative coping style can explain65.3%of the variance in the depression status and they can explain39.8%of the variance in the anxiety status. Objective support, negative coping style can explain32.4%of the variance in the social avoidance and distress status.ConclusionThe mental health status of patients with psoriasis was poor. They had some psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and social avoidance and distress. The medical staff should pay greater attention to the psychological treatment of patients with psoriasis. The trait coping style and social support can significantly affected the lever of patients with psoriasis. People with more social support and positive coping style could have better mental heath status.
