Objective To discuss the correlation between RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation and epithelial ovarian malignant tumor.Method We analyzed the DNA methylation status of ovarian tumors and ovarian tissue using methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction in28cases of ovarian epithelial ovarian cancer and10cases of benign ovarian tumor and10cases of ovarian tissues. The samples collected from Qilu hospital. Results RASSF1A promoter methylation rates in the various types of ovarian tissues were as follows:advanced epithelial ovarian cancer60.7%, benign ovarian tumor10.0%, ovarian tissues0%, there was statistically significant difference between the former and the latter two (P<0.05), there was not statistically significant difference between the latter two (P>0.05); RASSF1A promoter methylation rate in well differentiated epithelial ovarian cancer (30.0%) was higher than that in poorly differentiated epithelial ovarian cancer (77.8%), there was statistically significant difference between them (P<0.05)Conclusion RASSF1A promoter methylation may be closely related with the occurrence and development of epithelial ovarian cancer. RASSF1A promoter methylation of epithelial ovarian cancer may be closely related with pathological grade. RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation may be a useful molecular marker for the early detection of ovarian tumors.
