BackgroundNowadays, the injury has been confirmed an important health problem and a frontier topic in the preventive health care field in twenty-first Century by the international academic World. Whether in the developed or developing countries; injury occupied a large proportion of the causes of death. The economic burden of Injury to the individual, family and social cause is heavy. Injury, infectious diseases and chronic disease have been the key threats for human life and health.The public health researchers pay more and more attention to the injury now. Injury not only causes disability and death, consumes a large amount of medical expenses but also weaken the national productivity. On the other side, injury is different from the accident. The occurrence of injury has its inherent regularity, which can be prevented. To prevent and control the occurrence of injury has a very important significance.AimsThe overall objective of this study is to learn about the residents’cause of death in Qingzhou city, analysis the level of injury death and the indirect economic burden.MethodsThe death information came from CHINA INFORMANTION SYSTEM FOR DISEASES CONTROL AND PREVENTION. The population information came from the Qingzhou Public Security Bureau, the Qingzhou Bureau of statistics, the Qingzhou Population and Family Planning Bureau.The classification of death causes were according to the International Classifications of Diseases10(ICD-10). The software of SPSS17.0and Excel2003were used in the process of statistical analysis. The standardized of population was from the data of National Population Census of China in2010.Main Results1. In2011, the top five causes of death of the population in Qingzhou city were malignant tumor, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, injury, and respiratory system disease.2. The top five causes of death of the total population, male and female were the same in Qingzhou city in2011.3. The first cause of death of Children under5years old was diseases originated in the perinatal period. Injury was the first cause of death in the5-59years old population. Heart disease was the leading cause of death of the60and above years old group. In each age group, the mortality rate of male was higher than female.4. Malignant neoplasm, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, injury, respiratory system disease mortality showed out an increasing trend with the increasing of age.5. The top five causes of death of total population, male and female in Qingzhou City were:traffic accident, accidental poisoning, and suicide, accident falling and drowning. These five causes of death accounted for over87%of the total death in2011.6. Traffic accidents are the first leading cause of injury death in group of under5years old group,5-14years old group,15-59years old group,60and above years old group.7. The mortality of accidental poisoning, and suicide, accident falling and drowning showed out an increasing trend with the age increasing. The mortality rate reached the highest in the80-84years old group and85and above years old group. 8. The mortality rate of traffic accident (5.68/10million) in October was the highest; the mortakity rate of suicide in August reached the highest which was1.42/10million. The mortality of accidental poisoning in winter and spring was higher than the other seasons.9. The life expectancy was77.95years of the total population of Qingzhou city; Male life expectancy was75years old; Female life expectancy was81.06years old in2011. The life expectancy excluded the death of injury was79.65years of the total population; Male life expectancy excluded the death of injury was77.25years old; Female life expectancy excluded the death of injury was82.06years old.10. The PYLL, SPYLL, AYLL, PYLLR and SPYLL of total causes of death of the age from0to74.83were54470.00man-year,51583.30man-year,9.10man-year,59.47%o and56.32%o respectively. Injury was the leading cause of the total population PYLL, which was17446.00man-year, accounted for32.03%of the total deaths in2011.11. The WPYLL and AWPYLL caused by injury were11889.00man-year and24.12man-year respectively, the ratio of WPYLL was26.16%.12. The indirect economic loss of Qingzhou city in2011caused by injury deaths was766.33million Yuan, which accounted for1.90%of GDP.Suggestions1. Strengthen the long-term monitoring of injury.2. Strengthen health education.3. Strengthen the Secondary Prevention and Tertiary Prevention of injury, and the establishment of community health service network.4. Pay more attention to the special groups.5. Formulate the effective local rules and regulations, and supervision.6. Establish the specialized agencies to control the injury.7. Establish an effective evaluation system.
