As a new subject, Chinese as a foreign language has made great progress. According to statistics, the number of people studying Chinese as a second language has reached over 40 million. At the same time, Chinese characters teaching is still beset with difficulties, which has already been a major barrier in the international promotion of Chinese. There is a consensus between the foreign students that spoken Chinese is comparative easy to learn while Chinese characters are hard to remember. Based on the above information, in term of the present situation of international promotion of Chinese, the feature of Chinese character, analysis of mainstream teaching strategies of Chinese character and the present situation of foreign students’Chinese character learning, the paper presented the author’s study and teaching experience, aiming at enhancing the study of related theories and pedagogy.The paper holds that in teaching, it is first required to find the feature of the Chinese character, study the structure of characters and find a proper way to teach. Base on the above information, the paper holds that the distinct superiority and important position of the Chinese character component decides that we may not neglect the component in the teaching practice, thus it will be advantageous to enhance teaching efficiency of the Chinese character effectively.
