As the wife of the great scholar Qian Zhongshu, the translater of Don Quijote de la Mancha and the writer of We Three, we never stop the research on Yang Jiang since1990’s. Her plentiful identities present the depth of our study. This paper which draws a lesson from the achievements of the research will discuss her writings and thoughts in three different points:her standpoints as an intellectual, the narration of her memory of the Cultural Revolution and why she has been so welcomed since We Three did well in the book market. According to my analysis of her novels and essays, this paper will trace the changing of her writing style and personal values in different ages which could describe the real Yang Jiang among the Chinese intellectual group. Her figure presented before us is constructed by Sanlian Press and the needs of the mass, and Sanlian Press conveys its own ideology and culture in the meanwhile.Part one will discuss the long novel Bath and the short novels as subsidiary. This paper will try to explain Yang’s viewpoint about reconstruction of intellectuals guided by the nation. Part two will analyse Yang’s own way in which she deal with the memory and history of the Cultural Revolution. We could use the word "No Doctrine" to describe her attitude and writing angles. Part three will explore the real reasons of her changing in writing style and why she is so popular among the mass. Maturation of the book market in China, the need of the mass population for humanity and Chinese traditional civilization, and the supporting from Sanlian Press should be the most important aspects of this cultural phenomenon.
