As the chief part in study, the students’ beliefs and understanding of the language knowledge, skills and the relationship between them have more direct and obvious effects on their English learning. Meanwhile, I found that a lot of high school students who want to improve their English don’t know which part they need to learn and how to improve. This study aims to explore the students’ beliefs on language knowledge, skills and the relationship between them. Were any difference between high and low-level English learner and what are the source and the impact of the differences? By researching this study can help students and teachers improve their language learning and teaching. Informants were chosen and interviewed in Beijing No.12middle school Grade2. There were twice interviews with the participants. And in order to ensure the reliability and validity, pilot study was conducted before the research. In order to know better students’ beliefs and behaviors, the researcher carefully designs the questions and conducts the interview in a friendly environment. Twice interviews were conducted, and the participants were required to answer several related questions. By analyzing their answering the researcher finds that firstly, although students know something about language knowledge and skills, they don’t hold a complete and systematical belief. And there is no distinct and obvious difference between high and low-level English learners. Secondly, although there is no obvious differences in the beliefs, what they do in their daily learning are completely different. Then, the reasons leading to the difference between high and low-level English learner are their study consciousness, awareness, learning attitude, and the learning habits formed at different stages. In sum, due to the pressure of the college entrance examination, the students pay more attention to the exam contents. Some of them may hold some wrong beliefs. Teachers should correct them in time and pay more attention on their learning awareness, attitude, and try to help them form a correct learning habit.
