A Study Of Ancient Chinese Vocabulary Based On Vector Space Model

This article is based on Vector Space Model in studies of ancient Chinese vocabulary, as an exploration of research method. Studying related words in the "Analects" and "Mencius", combining synchronic description and diachronic description as the principle and using comparative research methods of calculating the Vector Space Model in linguistics, this paper studies the similarity of part of the verbs in the "Analects of Confucius" and "Mencius". It also obtains some of the verbs’ similarity between the members of the same corpus to explore the evolution of vocabulary in different corpus, to come to the affinities between the internal members of the vocabulary relations so as to seek the classification of the vocabulary system solutions.The paper consists of three parts: introduction, body and conclusion. The first chapter introduces the vector space model. It explains the status quo of a brief vocabulary system of classification, the research background, reasons for choosing this topics and research goals. The second chapter mainly studies the similarity of the relevant vocabulary in "Mencius" and "The Analects" as well as the internal similarity between the members in the same Corpus same system to obtain the specific data. The third chapter comes to the conclusion by inspecting the corpus as well as using the vector space model calculation obtained the relevant data. And it also focuses on the shortcomings in the study to point out the direction of future research.
