The City Image In The Contemporary Drama Of China From1978to2012

The object of this study is city image in the contemporary drama from1978to2012.It attempt to interpret the cities in the drama from the perspective of city image andinvestigate from expression of the folk spirit, city scene in a nostalgic vision, symbolsrepresent in urban consumption space, diversification of the theme image in newimmigrant drama. This study is composed of four chapters except the introduction andepilogue.The first chapter is to examine the combing of the city image in the contemporaryChinese drama, clearly define the meaning of the image of the city and the division ofnatural image and unnatural image.The second chapter summarized the common combination of the city image of thecity as at first, and then showing the polymerization results of the city image such asMarketplace of life, old Town scenery and bustling cities.Chapter Three mainly discuss the transmutation of city image in the context ofmodern vision，reflect on the representation of city image about urban experience. Andthen take unequal alleys of Beijing and Shanghai for example in order to find out thechanges and development of the city image.Chapter Four focused on different regions of the city image separately, selectedtypical moist south of the Yangtze River, luxury Hong Kong and leisure Taiwan asrepresentative.Conclusion: The city image in the TV series contains people’s internal perception ofcertain city profoundly. The city image in contemporary TV drama exists as a symbol ormetaphors and plays an important role in narration which is far more than the originalmeaning of just symbols. The expression of habits developed progressively on the basis ofhistorical accumulation. In addition, the concerned about the change of the city image indrama can also provide a different reference for us.
