The object of this study is the Chinese TV drama, exploring the mirroring and shaping effects to the city Beijing by these TV drama. The paper consists of four parts, from the conceptual definition of the research object, synchronic connotation, and the diachronic evolution as well as the communication and construction conducted by Beijing’s city image.Firstly, start from the ’image’, its philosophical origins and classic meaning. In according with Lynch ’city image’, and combined with the analysis and definition of this study to give a deeper interpretation to ’city image’. With considering the duality and differences of the subject’cognition.The second part, summarizing image types of Beijing in the drama, the combination of different elements to form different types of urban image. This chapter, they are divided into classe folk culture, social lifestyle, the natural environment and class landmark four categories imagery, subdivided inquiry.The third part, through the changing themes in the TV dramas to study the diachronic changes of Beijing’s city image. Of course, this so-called thematic change refers to the order of time of the subject matter itself, rather than a linear order of evolution. The folk daliy life in the 1980s-1990 s last century became the old Beijing’s city image, not just the ancient buildings of the old town, but the folk culture of the people in the city are unique in old Beijing’s city image. Interior drama into China,reveals the life attitudes of the people in Beijing, family gossip, the neighborhood form a picture of life in Beijing. By the beginning of the 20 th century, traditional drama developed into a new kind of family ethics play in the streets, highlighting the changes of new Beijing. Finally, youth inspirational series rising and clusters, calls upon the dream and the reality in the urbanization of Beijing.And in the end, inscribing the dissemination and construction of Beijing’s city image and try to give a summary analysis of it. TV dramas is a collection of images which can call audience’s perceptions of regional culture, is a unique channel for constructing and promoting the city’s image. This chapter consisting of individual cities and one-dimensional Beijing explored the map symbolization of city image in the TV series, as well as the images’ bias. Audience perception is made up of thousands of symbols, brings together a variety of urban image, resulting in audience’s perception of Beijing. While the representation of the dramas will transfer Beijing’s city image into symbolic power, which was confirmed repeatedly with authority. The fixed mode is Beijing personalized image. The TV images prentended to be the mirror of the city’s development, using Beijing city construction of scale momentum and market of height prosperity, will Beijing city of class cracks into class across of illusion, making into vulgar empty of material worship, eventually reduced to be symbol, Blindly utopian to imagine the worship of urbanization, forming urban landscape of consumerism.
