“The Six Chapters of a Floating Life” is an autobiographical essay which describesthe deep love between the author and his wife, and “Jane Eyre”is a novel with the author’simprint. These two works are written in the same ages, but they show us two differentfamale images because of the differences of social and cultural background. In the history,the characters of Chen Yun and Jane Eyre are always the focus of study, but this essay aimsat the comparison of these two heroines. While analysing the similarities and differencesbetween them, it also discuss the deep seated reasons, and at last it will offer help to theChinese teaching.
