After World War II, Japanese posters formed a unique design style in the World as aresult of more than half a century’s hard work. Taking the example of the Japanese postersin the second half of the20th century, through literature research, conclusion, comparisonand analysis, this article focuses on the design style and its influencing factors both athome and abroad. The author hopes that this study can provide readers with the panoramaof the post-war Japanese graphic design, and a valuable reference for the development ofChina’s modern design.The findings show that a lot of factors, such as economic development, technologicalprogress, support of the government, national character and culture, expansion of theinternational vision, and efforts of designers, have all contributed to the formation of theJapanese posters in the second half of the20th century. As an exotic flower in the historyof world poster design, Japanese posters, under the impact of both the Oriental andOccidental culture, have integrated modern spirit with national esthetic appreciation, andshown a unique charm of magnificence, simplicity, exquisiteness, and delicacy.
