Official Travel And Poetry Creation In Yang Wan-Li’s Life

During the Song dynasty(960-1276), scholar-officials frequently left their native places spending much of time travelling from place to place, because of the official careers’motivation. As a result, official travel became an important background of poetry creation among scholar-officials,, and this phenomenon did affect the style and features of Song poetry. When we study the relationship between official travel and poetry creation, Yang Wan-Li is an perfect case. He had plenty of official career experience, and he said the experience did have an influence on his poem style. This study observes Yang Wan-Li’s poems in the background of official travel, combining with the system, region, mentality and culture, then discusses the specific impacts on his poems, which were brought by official travel, and the significance of poetry creation in his official movements life. The chapter one mainly study how the official travel system affecting the features of Yang’s poems, just reduction the official movement life in his poems, then discusses the protection and constraint brought what to his poems.
