Vocabulary is an indispensable component of a language system,it is also oneof the foundation of every language.As for second language teachers it is the keypoint of teaching process, masteirng the usage of vocabulary effectively is veryimportant for learning a second language well.So how to teach vocabulary effectivelyhas became a public concern in the ifeld of language teaching.Constructivism, which has a great inlfuence on the practice of education, hasbeen prevailing since the late1980s.lt holds that the leanrers should not receive theknowledge passively but built up by the cognizing subject,and learning is an initiativeprocess of constructing which based on the previously knowledge.Content-based Instruction which namely CBI means teaching or learning aforeign language is an idea which must base on a certain subject or a theme. Itabandoned the traditional way of teaching mode that make language teaching becomean isolated one artiifcially. This teaching learning concept reflects the whole teachingthoughts, listening,speaking,reading and wirting are four comprehensive ability inlanguage learning and try to use them in the real situation.lt relfects thelearner-centered teaching idea, at the same time it make the teaching key form what tolearn convert into how to learn, pay more attention to learning strategies, innovationspirit and imagination ability.Under the guidance of constructivism and CBI, this research mean to explore themore effective, feasible and practical ways which related to the vocabulary teaching of the English major in University.
