In common sense, the amphoteric pattern in Chinese traditional culture is "man is superior to woman". But in the world of Chinese traditional drama, the situation is opposite. This remarkable difference provide the point to research and try to dig out its reason.Based on the both plays of emperor’s and civilian divorce, research will be done in the current situation and expression. It tends to distinguish the reason of this pattern’s appearance from external and internal aspects.The introduction sends out a series of questions to state the cause of study. And it also focuses the research on the play of divorce, especially on the play of emperor’s and civilian divorce. The relevant current research is mentioned too.The first chapter is concentrate on the play of emperor’s divorce. And tries to analyze the psychological reason of the roles’ behavior. On the basis of above analysis we may conclude that it’s "woman is superior to man" pattern in the drama world.The second chapter focuses on the play of civilian divorce, get the same conclusion, and contrast to the play of emperor’s divorce.The third chapter propel the analysis into more deeper from both external and internal cause by contrast with traditional view, such as the history and the experience of play author.The fourth chapter finds the "woman is superior to man" pattern appeared in four old folklores, which means this pattern is not a single case but a consensus.
