This dissertation is based on Shi Tiesheng tests’ thematic meaning, trying toexplore the life philosophizing of Shi Tiesheng, striving to solve the following threequestions within the framework of Shi Tiesheng tests. First, what is the normal state oflife? Second, how can we face the life? Third, what can we gain through the experienceof life?The whole dissertation is mainly divided into three parts: introduction, main bodyand conclusion.The introduction part describes the creation situation of Shi Tiesheng and hispeculiarity in Chinese contemporary literature history. Summarizing the study status ofShi Tiesheng and his texts, pointing out the main conception of this dissertation.The first chapter explains that the incompletion is the normal status of life. Fromthe viewpoint of Shi Tiesheng, the unknown and accidental of the destiny, the isolationbetween individual and other parts, the unlimited complexity of inner self, all of thoseresult in the truth of life incompletion. The life philosophizing of Shi Tiesheng hasinternal relations with traditional Chinese culture (Confucianism and Taoism are asrepresentatives) and western culture (Christianism and Existentialism are asrepresentatives). Shi Tiesheng also perceives that the inevitability and necessity of lifeincompletion, so expressing a life attitude that struggling to life, but at the same time,accepting the incompletion of life.The second chapter discusses Shi Tiesheng’s understanding on the love andwillingness to love. He emphasizes that the individual should cherish unlimitedwillingness to love, to face the limited life. The first section illustrates the character oflove, that is openness, being together and infinite pursuit; The second section discussesthe possibility of unlimited willingness to love from two dimensions, which are feelingsand rationality, writing and literature.The third chapter elaborates Shi Tiesheng’s idea that life is endless pursuit,indicating the value and significance of Shi Tiesheng’s ultimate concern spiritualdemand in the contemporary. Emphasizing that only firm the belief position, can we remedy the limitation of rationality, can we break the extreme confusion——theunfounded life and death. Pointing out only getting rid of "egocentrism", breakingthrough ourselves and building up strong self-identity, to pursue perpetually, canbelief shines into reality, can we achieve the current meaning of belief.The conclusion integrally reflects modern literary arena, trying to outline thesignificance and peculiarity of Shi Tiesheng’s life philosophizing in contemporaryliterature and calling for Chinese intellectuals should possess the real surpassstandpoint.
