As China is constructing a well-off and harmonious society, faculty of civil servant affects national stability. Thus, it is very important social practical-significances to pay attention to the issue of job burnout in Changsha civil servants. This research interviewed371civil servants in Changsha government randomly for exploring the influential mechanism from work stress and self-efficiency to job burnout, and testifying the intermediary effect of self-efficiency between work stress and job burnout. It used questionnaires and Spss13.0to analysis the data contain description statistic, correlation analysis and regression analysis and showed that:(1)The degree of job burnout among civil servants in Changsha City remains moderate. The level of emotional exhaustion is the highest, and the followings are cynicism and reduced accomplishment.(2)Demographic variables, which were gender, marriage, length of service, position and educational background, were significant difference in work stress, self-efficiency and job burnout among civil servants in Changsha City.(3)There was significantly positive correlation between work stress and job burnout (except working load and reduced personal accomplishment were not significantly correlation). Both of general self-efficiency and profession self-efficiency were significantly negative correlation together with dimension of job burnout. Significantly negative correlation were found between the dimension of work stress and profession self-efficiency in civil servants of Changsha.(4) General self-efficiency and profession self-efficiency partly played a role of mediator between work stress and job burnout.Finally, we specifically from individual level〠organization leveã€social level propose a solution to easing job burnout based on analytical results of our research and the real situation of civil servants in Changsha City.
