The overseas Chinese literature has been developing in a good mode since entering the new century. One prominent character of the developing is deepening the writing of the domestic scar memory. The overseas Chinese scar writing has a history of40years. In recent years, the number of works describing scar memory increases greatly; they either get a position in mainstream literature award frequently or get a great success in the book market, which results in a culture phenomenon that cannot be ignored. The special environment that overseas Chinese literature depends on makes them become expand type literature samples, which is of help for us to understand the writing of the Chinese Culture Revolution and to understand the migration experience. With the scar writing in the new century overseas Chinese literature as the research object, this thesis compares the differences and similarities of the domestic and oversea scar writing in the aspects of e.g. history position and writing methods and find out the shortcomings of overseas Chinese literature.This thesis first explains the meaning of "scar" in the introduction, giving out the differences of the two groups of words:scar writing with Chinese Culture Revolution writing and scar writing with scar culture; meanwhile, introduces the research status of the scar writing in the new century overseas Chinese literature, showing the research value and meaning; confirms that Geling Yan is "overseas Chinese literature writer", which was doubted before; and define the writing of domestic writers like Feiyu Bi as "scar writing".Chapter1summarizes the history position of the new century overseas Chinese literature. In the aspect of time, this thesis reviews scar writing by dating back to the scar literature in the80’s; which in the aspect of geography, it compares overseas Chinese literature writing in the new century with that in the20’s century.In chapter2, this thesis summarizes the special writing methods of scar writing of the new century overseas Chinese literature. Among those methods, border writing, which contains desert grassland and jungle, showing distinct exotic colors, is a prominent character. Besides, scar writing of oversea writers pay attention to the amplification of emotional feelings, decrypting character’s inner pain in details. Instead of simply telling a story, writing scar memory with growth experience mode is a effective writing method which is often used by oversea writers.As the main part of the thesis, chapter3compares domestic scar writing with oversea scar writing in three aspects:in the aspect of warmth and cruel writing, oversea works lacks warmth, but uses more cruel writing methods; in the aspect of forgiveness and redemption, oversea works covers religion and is more mature and rational in the introspection of the Chinese culture revolution; in the aspect of migration psychological, oversea writers have to integrate into foreign culture so that they are more clear with the domestic scar memory while domestic writers stick to their homeland and have blurry scar memory.Chapter4mentions the shortcomings of oversea Chinese literature. On one hand, about discrete writing, which is a rigescent writing mode, this thesis brings up concerns that multi background becomes shackles; on the other hand, this thesis doubt the China imagination in the oversea writers scar memory as except for including the current society situation of China, other oversea writers stay in the old China memory, which is too old.The conclusion first acknowledges the role of the scar writing of oversea Chinese literature, supplying new experience and possibilities of Chinese Contemporary Literature. Meanwhile, it points out the problems that oversea Chinese literature is out of line with the current Chinese society and domestic readers’ expectation, expecting oversea Chinese literature to have more and better breakthrough.
