| With the elderly proportion has increased year by year, the aging problems has become one of the difficult problems in the world. China’s older population is more than any other country. The aging problems are becoming more serious. In recent years, the problem of aging population has attracted the widespread attention of the government, the society and the academia. Parties are also trying to address the problem of the elderly to evacuate from society and participate in social activities. Religion as a social phenomenon, have an important impact in the life of believers, mental health and subjective well-being. Since the Reform and Opening-up, the religious believers in China, especially the older believers, have increased year by year. But the research for the older believers is very few. This paper attempts to analyze the older Christian’s life and their subjective well-being situation, and to reflect the situation of the elderly religious. At the same time, this paper discusses the relationship between the older people’s religious beliefs and subjective well-being. Through these analysis, we can fully absorb the positive factors of religion in solving the problem of aging population, and better serve the religious community, and promote harmonious development of society.This study, based on the analysis in the literature, used the method of qualitative interviews and quantitative way. We surveyed eighty-two older Christian believers in Changsha City. After rigorous statistical analysis, conclusions are drawn as follows:(1)The sex of older Christian believers, level of education and marital station, do not have significant differences in the Christian faith in three dimensions. The timing of retirement, physical condition, Economic station, relationship of the younger, relationship of friends and relatives, have significant differences in the Christian faith in three dimensions.(2) The subjective well-being of Older Christian believers does not have significant differences in gender, level of education, marital status and economic status. But the subjective well-being of older Christian believers has significant differences in the timing of retirement, physical condition, relationship of the younger, relationship of friends and relatives.(3) By the establishment of two regression model, the explanation of model two improved strength significantly after joining the three factors of Christian beliefs. The three factors of Christian beliefs are significantly related to subjective well-being. Experience has stronger positive prediction on subjective well-being. Baptism have strong negative forecast on subjective well-being. |
