| The Enlarged&Revised Interpretation of Rhyming was written in1264AD in the years of Jingding of Song Dynasty by Guo Shouzheng as an addition to and revision of The Interpretation of Rhyming. The book also belongs to A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites, and gives exclusive priority to interpretation, which obtained substantially high esteem amongst scholars and students of that period. This paper focuses on detailed analysis of the "Mutual-Reference-of-Rhymes" rule, Qieyu and supplementary words by statistics, summarization, induction, comparison and contrast, and defines the book’s incomparable position in A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites and a unique status in the history of books of rhyming by comparing with Guangyun,Jiyun, A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites: Mutual-Annotation-with-Explanatory-Texts Version, A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites:Enlarged&Revised Version with Mutual Annotation. And this paper distinguishes itself by an unprecedented probe into the "Mutual-Reference-of-Rhymes" rule, and elaborate analysis of its origin, development, significance and limitedness. And this paper also extends to an inquiry into the information that rule carries by referring to specific material of The Enlarged&Revised Interpretation of Rhyming and comparing with A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites: Mutual-Annotation-with-Explanatory-Texts Version, A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites:Enlarged&Revised Version with Mutual Annotation. The author reckons that the editors of The Enlarged&Revised Interpretation of Rhyming reached farther by integrating the book with their independent thoughts rather than simple imitation despite The Enlarged&Revised Interpretation of Rhyming as an addiction to A Brief of Rhyming by the Ministry of Rites, hence this book deserves an intensive study. |
