A Collation And Annotation Of Revised And Enlarged Hanyin Wenzi Zheng

Honyin Wenzi Zheng(《漠印文字徵》)and its supplementary book Hanyin Wenzi Zheng Buyi(《汉印文字徵补遗》)are two most important and essential collection books of seals compiled by Luo Fuyi.The two books have gathered considerable amount of characters from Han seals with perfection in stylistic rules and layout,which makes the books easy to read and retrieve.It is no doubt they are absolutely necessary reference books in palaeography study and have been providing rich information to reseachers.However,the two books were published in the early times,so mistakes are inevitable.For those,there were many collated and annotated works in academia,with a series of collation of Shi Xiejie as the representative works.In 2010,Luo Suizu,the son of Luo Fuyi,contributed to the Revised and Enlarged Hanyin Wenzi Zheng(《增订汉印文字徵》),which,however,didn’t fully absorb the research achievements of ancient Chinese character but carried on most problems as before.This paper takes full advantage of the achievements of previous studies and makes a comprehensive review on the book,Revised and Enlarged Hanyin Wenzi Zheng,Three main achievements of this essay are as below:First,collating and annotating some unmentioned mistakes of the facsimile characters separated from seals and interpretation in a chronological order of its original book;Second,making some necessary explanations for the seal’s impression-related issues by combining with previous theories,and digging more deeply into ancient surnames and given names of people at that time,but also names of places and its evolution;Third,summarizing some rules of the evolution of Chinese character in Han seals.The essay is devided into three chapters.The first chapter is introduction part,mainly introducing topic selection and related research findings,and also giving a brief description of the research objectives,methods and essay style.The main reseach production of this essay is elaborated in the second and the third chapter.The collation and annolation in these two chapters is arranged according to the order of the original books.
