| There are varieties of idiomatic phrases and expressions in vast Chinesevocabulary. They are charming masterpieces in Chinese as a result of rich connotationand various forms and structures. It is also of great importance and makes the fishingpoint in Mandarin teaching books. Idiomatic phrases reflect the national philosophicalideas, national thinking minds and the value orientation of the Chinese nation as wellas inheriting our tradition and customs. It is for the demand of improving Chineselearning that they study, understand and research idiomatic phrases for overseasstudents while they have the intention of learning about Chinese historical andpolitical background in learning Chinese. Only by this means can they realize theirdream of learning Chinese culture and language in perfect.In order to finish this article, I read nearly30popular current teaching books andpick out all the idioms and proverbs. I also compare some English notes with theirtranslations. I analyzed the misconceptions and mistakes in using idiomatic phrases bya questionnaire in order to present the present state of idiomatic phrases and proverbsin Mandarin teaching books. Some advice have been offered after analyzingadvantages and disadvantages in real Mandarin teaching.Cultural deposits and historical stories are necessarily included as culturalteaching and concerning are involved in Mandarin teaching. There are research oncomparing different forms of idiomatic phrases and error analysis together with theview of language and culture differences before. Based on the research of presentbooks and teaching practice, it is for the sake of giving the problems of Mandarinteaching practice that I can find solutions and teaching strategies when faced withidiomatic phrases which combine language with culture. This article consists of6parts. Chapter1was an introduction of researchingbackground, intention and writing methods. It integrated certain related articles anddefined research objects. It analyzed the present researching situations and generalideas of this article as well as giving its distinctive opinions.Chapter2presents the detailed distribution of idiomatic phrase in teaching books.Nearly30Mandarin teaching books finding results were shown in figure in Chapter2.Selected idioms were offered curiously in figure in comprehensive class, spoken classand reading class. Finding results on the situation of the number,frequency and gradeof idiomatic phrase were also presented.Chapter3classifies idiomatic phrase. Research on type and content has beendone to analyze the causes and results.There is an analyse of mistakes made by notes in teaching books. Classificationof notes mistakes will be done to show factors of causing misunderstanding inCharper4.In Charpter5, A questionnaire will be done to investigate studengts’understanding and current situations.There was realistic significance and practical suggestions in Chapter6. It gaverealistic teaching significance and analyzed advantages and disadvantages ofidiomatic teaching. Detailed suggestions were given about notes and teaching method.The last part is the conclusion. It presented the significant opinions for this thesis.It also stated probable restrictions objectively. It was emphasized that the thesis is areport of research findings and investigation. I hope to reach my desired expectation. |
