First, a preliminary evaluation of the textbook as it is is conducted. The author analyzes the course book from theaspects of the background, principles, unit organization and features of thecompiling. Then an in-use evaluation is carried out by interviewing thestudents and teachers’ opinions from the angles of items analysis including thestructure, design, content, topic design, language skills etc. During theassessment phrase, an in-use evaluation is conducted by sendingquestionnaires to7teachers and310non-English major students from twouniversities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, by which the data arecollected and analyzed based on the statistic software of SPSS17.0. Moreover, interviews are carried out to seven college English teachers and30students toinvestigate the strengths and weaknesses of this book. The result shows that New Standard College English--Viewing,Listening and Speaking Textbooks satisfied most of the learners’ needs.
