The Study On Battle-axe Of Northern China

This essay has a study on the Bronze Battle-axe, which is a kind of bronzeweapon distributed in northern China. Firstly, we find the differences and relationsbetween the axe and the Yue, and give them definitions each other. Secondly, wedivide four major categories of the battle-axe, according their detail characteristics.Meanwhile, combined the archaeological culture and the development rules and shapeevolution of each type. There are five phases: the late Xia Dynasty、the early ShangDynasty、the late Shang Dynasty、the early Zhou Dynasty、the late Zhou Dynasty, andthen we can get a longitudinal development. The next, we observe the distributionsituation of the battle-axe. The Bronze Yue has a same fate with the central dynasty inChina, and the Bronze Axe ties up with the mode of battle and the development ofweapon. The last, we discuss the origin of the battle-axe for the differentcharacteristics. The Bronze Yue came from the Stone Yue in Neolithic of China, theBronze Fu came from the battle-axe of the western Asia, and the other two types camefrom the reference and integration of the Bronze Yue and the Bronze Fu.
