Iris Murdoch is one of the most famous contemporary British writer, her unique art pursuit and notion of moral philosophy make her worldwide reputation. She was faithful to the description of real life, concerned about the people, strived to express understanding of morality and humanity in the novels, and tried by ordinary middle-class British family life description to show the universal human survival status and moral conflict. In the1970’s, she wrote "The Black Prince","The sacred and profaned love machine","The sea, the sea" and a series of novels, focusing on showing people in fantasy and egoism. Love and family is a recurring theme in Murdoch’s novels, she believes that love is the most closest way to reach the truth, in love mania state people are most likely to the beauty and truth.This paper on the basis of existing research results at home and abroad to provide a new research perspective, pays close attention to the description of love, deepening analysis Eros theory of Plato’s. Paper first chapter combines with three aspects—Murdoch’s view of art and literature, Plato’s Eros theory and the pursuit of good moral philosophy, analyze Iris Murdoch’s writing in love story. In chapter2, the thesis analysis in egoism love, and how people in the lowest form of Eros was driven into a blind love. The third chapter to Plato’s cave metaphor as the breakthrough point, defining the concept of egoism and analysis, to show love in breakthrough egoism and importance in the process of the pursuit of good ideas. Love is the power which supply for good, in order to become morally better, people all need a kind of believe that moral discipline, breaking the individual indulged, paying attention to others and outside world filled with love, finally could reach the supreme world of the good. Understanding the relationship of Murdoch’s love and goodness plays a very important role for understanding her profound moral philosophy.
