On The Linguistic Features Of Comment In Micro-blog From Different Social Status

The boom in the Internet breeds a brand-new online communication platform, Micro-blog in which people can obtain a deep understanding of the happening events around them and give their own comments on controversial social events. People from all walks of life display different linguistic features in their Micro-blogs, which is the prerequisite for this study. The author intends to conduct a research on the different linguistic features demonstrated in the comments of Micro-blogs from both public figures and ordinary people.Two incidents, Contaminated Dairy Products and Poisonous Capsules Incidents, have been chosen in this thesis to achieve the results of this study. Comments on the above two incidents from the Micro-blogs of100celebrities have been collected and a questionnaire has been designed to get the data from97ordinary people. The author intends to figure out the results of the following questions. Whether ordinary people or public figures are more inclined to comment on controversial social invents in Micro-blog? Do any differences between ordinary people and public figures in the use of irony? Is there any difference between ordinary people and public figures in the way of expressing emotion? Do any differences between ordinary people and public figures in the way of using taboos? Is there any difference between ordinary people and public figures in the way of adopting vulgar words? Are there any differences between ordinary people and public figures in the way of adopting objective words? Do there any differences between ordinary people and public figures by using intensifiers? Whether ordinary people or public figures are more inclined to give suggestions in their Micro-blogs when they comment on those controversial social invents?The author studied the data collected from these two groups and concluded that those people who reveal their personal information will tend to be more polite, implicit and liberate than those who do not reveal their information in Micro-blog. As ordinary people, especially under the condition that when their personal information is concealed, their linguistic features appear to be more blatant and straightforward.These results can be attributed to the psychological conditions, social factors and economical motivation. Any study on Micro-blog is welcome because Micro-blog has developed into an industry because loads of people use it as a vehicle of earning money. There is a new point which is worth further study that is the relationship between economical motivation and linguistic features in Micro-blog.To sum up, maintaining a sounding internet environment is indispensible for the development of a harmonious society which requires our shared efforts. Therefore it is recommended that real name system must be implemented so that people will behave well-mannered in their Micro-blogs.
