There is a multifaceted diversity elements in Xiao Hong’s novels, which in the texts, check and balance each other, and constitute ironic narration. This paper tries to make analysis about the irony in Xiao Hong’s novels, and on the basis of making a systematic exploration, find out the characteristics of Xiao Hong’s novels.Except introduction and epilogue, the paper is divided into three chapters to discuss:Chapter1Focuses on the level of narrative skills. There are different forms of irony in Xiao Hong’s novels which need to be extracted and classified, then made a detailed analysis. According to different aspects, this chapter will be discussed with four parts:view irony, situational irony, discussing irony, and parody.Chapter2Focuses on the overall appearance of Xiao Hong’s novels. This chapter make a further discussion from two aspects:On one hand, we focus on the variation theme, namely in a full text, the subject implied two or more topics, which conflict and contrast to each other; On the other hand, we try to find out the similar and different points on Xiao Hong’s novels and the mainstream novels.Chapter3tries to find out the unique qualities of Xiao Hong’s novels, on the basis of the discussion we have made. This chapter is discussed from two aspects:On one hand, trying to explore that how irony in the novels make the narrative balance; On the other hand, Through the irony witness, trying to find out the narrative attitude in Xiao Hong’s novels.
