Culture is an important support for economic and socialdevelopment.It is also an important factor to enhance thecomprehensive competitiveness of countries and cities. Since thebeginning of twenty-first century, the role of cultural to promoteeconomy development is increasingly obvious, more and morecountries take improve the soft power of culture as an importantdevelopment strategy, cultural industry also began to become apillar industry of the national economy in many countries.Accelerate the development of cultural industries and improve thecompetitiveness of cultural industry are great significance to meetpeople’s spiritual and cultural needs of diverse andmulti-level,promote the city’s economic restructuring, industrialupgrading and restructuring. In2011, the Chinese Communist Partyof the Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth set the theme of"Cultural Power", and further put forward "promote culturalindustries to become the pillar industry of the national economy". Incontext of this policy, Qingdao put forward "to be an importantregional center for cultural exchange and cultural industriescenter" and "Culture City" strategic objectives. During the"Eleventh Five-Year" period, Qingdao cultural industry developed rapidly, the overall level of competitiveness is increased year byyear.This thesis is on basis of learning from the research results athome and abroad. Cultural industry competitiveness is defined as"the cultural industries of a country or a region with respect to thesame industry in other countries or regions’ compared productivityof production efficiency, to meet the market demand, sustainedprofitability and to seize the opportunity ",and a brief introductionto Porter’s diamond model theory. By introducing the overview ofthe development of the cultural industry in Qingdao, at first from theperspective of cultural enterprises analyzes the development of thefive cultural industries of film and television media industry,performing arts and entertainment industry, publishing and printingindustry, animation and online game industry, cultural festivals andexhibition industry circumstances that Qingdao cultural industriesrely on the advantages of location, technology, policy has begun totake shape, and broad development prospects. Second from sixfactors of production, demand conditions, related and supportcompetition in the industry, corporate strategy, structure, as wellas the opportunities and government to do a qualitative analysis forQingdao cultural industry competitiveness. The conclusion iscultural industry in Qingdao City facing good opportunities fordevelopment in the series of effective policies to protect thecultural industries, it has a stronger competitive edge in terms ofinfrastructure, capital investment, corporate branding, but thereare also some problems like cultural industry practitioners are notenough, public expenditure on culture is low, culture lack of effective demand, market structure needs to be optimized.To research the development trend of Qingdao culturalindustries and the competitive level among sibling cities, this thesisestablish a cultural industry competitiveness index evaluationsystem based on the diamond model theory. At first we use principalcomponent analysis to analyze the recent decade of Qingdaocultural industries development trend, the results showed that thecultural industries competitiveness increased year by year over thepast decade. At second we use principal component analysis andcluster analysis method to study fifteen sub-provincial cities’cultural industries competitiveness, the results showed thatQingdao in fourth place, a strong overall competitiveness, but withGuangzhou and Shenzhen compared, it belongs to the general levelof competitiveness. There are also some problems, like the scale ofindustry and the basis of demand need to be expand, lacking ofprofessional practitioners, related support industries needs to befurther developed and so on. As problems found in the analysis, weput forward some countermeasures combined with the Diamondmodel theory to enhance Qingdao cultural industries competitivelevels, including continue to push forward construction of majorprojects, speed up the training and the introduction of culturaltalent, strengthen the guidance of concept of public culturalconsumption and so on.
