On The Translation Of The Sojourn (Excerpts)

This thesis introduces the process of translating the selected parts in The Sojourn and can be divided into four parts:Introduction, Translation principles and process, Analyses of translation cases, and Conclusion. The switches in linguistic forms and cultural connotations of texts should be stressed in literature translation. Since the loss in translation is inevitable, translation compensation can make up for the loss in linguistic and cultural aspects during the translation of the source text, aiming to make the target text as equivalent to the source text as possible with the help of specific methods, such as contextual amplification,annotation, shift of perspective, specification and generalization.
