The research of new words teaching in oral course in TCSL has not been given enough attentions. This thesis examines and analyzes Spoken Chinese Tutorial(《汉语口语教程(第一版)》(2001)) and Short-term Spoken Chinese(《汉语口语速成(第二版)》(2007)中级篇),and discusses how to deal with new words teaching in oral course based on the practical corpus, which was collected from oral courses. This thesis explores teaching contents, teaching methods and words teaching strategies in TCSL.This thesis briefly analyzes the status and characteristics of the new words teaching in oral courses, defines the objectives and principles of the new words teaching. The paper discusses the new words teaching contents in detail. Word lists are the main part for new words teaching. The teaching of the word lists is further divided into the teaching of content words, function words and idioms.Appropriating different teaching methods accords with the characteristics of each subclass. Vulgar words and idioms should be paid great attention in teaching of Word lists, contacting the cultural background knowledge.This thesis also pays special attention to supplementary words teaching beyond the word lists. Supplementary words can effectively improve the communicative activities in oral courses. Oral courses are closely linked to the daily life. The teaching of popular new words should be introduced to oral courses. Day-to-day communicational material should be absorbed. Supplementary words teaching, particularly the introduction of the teaching of popular new words can effectively improve the learner’s actual level and ability of communication. This thesis also discusses teaching methods in the supplementary words teaching.The research of teaching strategies in oral courses provides theoretical support for teaching new words. The teaching strategies include the words teaching strategies based on semantic transparency, context and chunk strategies. They are the overall teaching approaches for teaching new words in oral courses. They are throughout the words teaching, to help solve the problems in new words teaching, and promote the goals of vocabulary teaching.
