| With a long and boundless history, China has a variety of cuisines, which enjoydistinct features. Nowadays, people from home and abroad communicate increasingly andChinese cuisines are favored by more and more foreigners. So, heavy responsibility is puton the translation concerning cuisine culture. It will play a significant role in the exchangeand friendship between home and abroad. As this regard, the Chinese menu translation isof great importance. Nevertheless, the cuisine study has not caught enough attentions andpublished works to this field are limited. Chinese menu translation is lacking in norms andstandards.Firstly, this thesis introduces the related background, objectives and methodology ofthe research. Secondly,the related studies on the translation of Chinese menu are clarified.The Chinese menu translation, including the definitions, standards and issues, is focusedon by the author. After that, the author explores the existing problems and the causes ofthese problems in the filed of translation of Chinese menu. Then, the possible solutions tothe problems mentioned above are also summarized. In the conclusion, the author makes asummary, talks about the importance and limitations of the study in the present period oftime and makes the suggestions for the study of this field in the future.The article tries to analyze the features of Chinese dish names and make a fewapproaches to solve the perplexity existing currently in the menu translation of the Chineseservice field. |
