The Study Of Autobiographical Essays In Han Wei And The Six Dynasties

The autobiographical proses of Han Wei and the Six Dynasties are very important in the history of the whole autobiographical literature. As Zhu Dongrun said, during this period, everything is disorderly and has no standard. Thus, people is freedom. Besides, It’s the initial stage of autobiographical literature. The same as our childhood, it’s pure. Autobiographical proses in Han Wei and the Six Dynasties provide a reference for the future generations by their colorful spirits and art forms. In this thesis, I will make a comprehensive discussion of it with five chapters. I expect people can discover the charm of the autobiographical proses of Han Wei and the Six Dynasties by the text interpretation of them.In the foreword, I will divide it into two parts. The first, I will introduce some related research works of the autobiographical proses of Han Wei and the Six Dynasties. The second, I will make a circumscription and classification of autobiographical proses. I divide them into six parts. They are auto-preface, supposed autobiographical proses, own epitaph, Biography of Fa Xian, edict and petition autobiographical proses and epistolary style autobiographical proses.In the first chapter, I will research the development process and reasons of the autobiographical proses in Han Wei and the Six Dynasties. The first section, I will summarize the development process of autobiographical proses from Qin dynasty to North dynasty. The second section, I will analyze the reasons for the boom of autobiographical proses of Han Wei and the Six Dynasties from the point of society and literature. The conclusion is that the self-consciousness and the boom of biographical literature are the main reasons for the development of autobiographical proses of Han Wei and the Six Dynasties.In the second chapter, I will research the auto-prefaces. The first section, I will analyze the auto-prefaces which attached to the works, for example, Tai Shigong’s auto-preface of his Historical Records. The second section, I will analyze the auto-prefaces which are unattached, like Jiang Yan’s autobiography.In the third chapter, I will research the new type of autobiography in the Jin Dynasty. It consists of supposed autobiographical proses, own epitaph and Biography of Fa Xian.In the fourth chapter, I will research three kinds of autobiography which are not typical. They are edict and petition autobiographical proses and epistolary style autobiographical proses. Although they are not autobiography ostensibly, they are also important autobiography essentially.In the fifth chapter, I will research the colorful spirits and art forms of autobiographical proses of Han Wei and the Six Dynasties. The first section I will analyze the Confucianism spirits, officialdom or living in seclusion and the caring for life in the autobiographical proses. The second section, I will analyze the art forms like language and narrative style.In the additional discussion, I will summarize this thesis and introduce the future development of the autobiographical proses after Han Wei and the Six Dynasties.In the Appendix, I will present the basic information of autobiographical proses in Han Wei and the Six Dynasties by a table.
