At present, the research on the teaching Chinese as a foreign language become more specialized and elaborated. In numerous studies, the research on vocabulary teaching has been lagging behind. The reason for this is that it is related to the huge and complicated system of the vocabulary teaching. Color words are important component of the language vocabulary system, the complexity and richness of the modern Chinese color words caught the attention of many scholars, and it occupies a pivotal position in teaching Chinese vocabulary as a foreign language. This thesis is based on the dual position of Chinese as a foreign language vocabulary teaching, trying to contain the concept of the inherited morpheme, explore the etymology of Chinese color words from the diachronic perspective, study the relationship of the morpheme of modern Chinese color words and the origins of ancient Chinese color words, in order to provide the rationale basis of color words teaching. This paper analyses the method and ability of word formation of the inherited morpheme related to color in order to determine the basic areas and semantic features of the color words in teaching Chinese as a foreign words. Color-related inherited morpheme in modern Chinese color word formation provides a new perspective for clarifying the relationship of the meaning of morpheme and words, and provides a new mode for Teaching Chinese as a foreign words. Inherited morpheme has a long history and rich in additional cultural meaning. Teaching Chinese as a foreign words is both language teaching and culture teaching, using the cultural meaning of inherited morpheme to teach Chinese as a foreign words can more fully realize the purpose of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. We use the general principles of Chinese vocabulary apply to the teaching of color words, meanwhile put forward the phased teaching strategies and materials layout style of colors in the full study of the color words characteristics. The aims of this paper is to provide practical recommendations to the teaching of color words, and seeks to achieve the purposes that using color words case as a basis to give implications for vocabulary teaching.The first chapter is introduction, mainly introducing the study of morpheme and morpheme teaching, the study of color words at home and abroad, the research of color words in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the study of the ideas and methods. The second chapter is the analysis of the method and ability of word formation of color—related inherited morpheme in modern Chinese color words, in order to classify the system of color words. The third chapter is the analysis of the semantic features of color words of color—related inherited morpheme, analysing the complexity and richness of word meaning system of Chinese color words. The fourth chapter is to use the principles of cognitive linguistics to analyse word group of color words in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and in the basis of determining the areas of color words in teaching Chinese as a foreign language to make a study of the two different color words from the perspective of cognitive metaphor. The fifth chapter is to explore basic modes of color words in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, including the proposed of teaching practice of basic color words and phased color words teaching, and finally make the recommendations to the arrangement of color words in teaching materials. The sixth chapter is the summary of this paper.
