In recent years,with the rapid development of economy and the increasinggrowth of population,the course of urbanization also accelerated ceaselessly,thecontradiction of many people and little land will become more prominent and thecontradiction between cultivated land protection and construction land expansion willalso be more acute.While the rapid development stimulates urban economy,and itinfluences the utilization ratio of Urban land in different levels,so the research ofurban expansion characteristics and driving force plays an important role and it issignificanct to relieve urban construction land used pressures and plan landutilization scientificly and reasonably,what’s made it important significance to setrealistic of land use planning and promote social health and sustainable development.The main research objects of this paper are four areas which belong to Kunmingcity:Wuhua area,Panlong area,Guandu area,Xishan area are altogether2096.82squarekilometers,according to remote sensing image TM basis, the ArcGIS geographicinformation system software,which have analylized of Kunming for nearly30years,history-culture and arrangement structure change characteristics. Then make using ofKunming statistical yearbook as data sources, making use of SPSS statistical analysissoftware, by using the method of principal component analysis to explore theconstruction land expansion of the factors driving change.The main achievements areas follows:1. Through the TM images of remote sensing interpretation urban constructionland use acreage in1974,1988,1998,2008were68.57km2,110.04km2,158.32km2,312.44km2.Separately calculated1974-1988,1988-1998and1998-2008three phaseof expansion speed, expanding dynamic strength and extension of the three indexes,and on this basis of calculation expand composite index, with reference to the relevantstandards in the1974-2008that three separate phases for medium speedexpansion-medium speed expansion-rapid expansion. 2. Through the barycenter model:1974-1988the transfering of the center ofgravity for300m transfer direction east,1988-1998barycenter direction for northwest310.48m,1998-2008barycenter direction for southeast direction1056.22m. Thenanalylizing the study area into eight quadrant, calculating the urban construction landexpansion is more than10%of the first Ⅱ, Ⅴ, Ⅶ, Ⅷ four quadrant,This coincidedwith the development direction of kunming corresponds.makes use of the1974’sfocus an center, Buffer2km out of ten of the buffer zone, The biggest expansionamount calculate peak mainly appear in focus from6-10km range.3.By using the quantitative and qualitative analysis method,exploring theconstruction land expansion of the factors driving change. According to thequantitative analysis, Principal component analysis shows on that the first and secondmain ingredients accumulative total contribution rate reached93.71%, which meetsfully the requirements, The first main component of the main function of the end of atotal population, GDP, fixing assets investment, basic construction and the total salesof the society. Through the qualitative analysis, Kunming urban expansion havesomething to do with geography, economy, population,traffic,policy and other factors.
