Our country is a mountainous nation,mountainous country area has 2/3 of national territory area or so,the population is roughly to occupy the national population the half,the town of mountainous area roughly occupy the national town the half.The person is much little,and the mountainous country is many,the farmland is little,and which is an outstanding antinomy inside the society and national economic develop in our country.With rapid economy development,the quick inflation,town quantity doubly add with the capital construction of continuously extend make the farmland of the big slice to be destroyed,and have already result in the serious threat to produce to agriculture.Meanwhile,problems exposed in the development of special construction in CQ urban areas,are mainly explained in the way that special construction is in disorder,the ecological environment is destroyed,public transportation lags behind,etc.Therefore,strengthening effective dynamic monitoring of space expanding and the land use and cover of city is important subject of solving urban problem.Thanks to the technologies of both Remote Sensing(RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS),the new advanced dynamic monitoring of urban sprawl is endowed with much more supreme virtues than its traditional counterparts.Images of SPOT in 2000,2003 and CBERS-1 in 2006 as the data sources,have been used for this study.Based on a series of image pre-processing by using the technology of RS and GIS,first,urban built-up area of the central of Chongqing city was extracted, as well as the speed and the spatial-temporal features of urban expansion was analyzed;second,the change and transformation of types of land use from 2000 to 2006 have quantitatively analyzed in the thesis through the statistic analysis after overlaying the images from classification for CQ urban; In the end,the main driving forces and model causing urban expansion from 2000 to 2006 were finally analyzed with the data about District's economy,population etc.Through this study,the conclusions were drew as follows:(1)With the rapid development of economy and swift urbanization,the land planed for construction surges sharply.Urban built-up area has increased 132.22 km~2,12.50%of the annual growth rate during the 2000-2006 period.(2)From the special distribute,the north and northeast direction were the leading orientation of urban expansion,accounted for 60%of the total expansion area.For the obstruct of the mountainous, built-up area expansion of the eastern and western is limited;the south regard mountainous country as principle and the elevation is higher,so Large-scale construction were restricted by reason of ecological consideration;the direction of the urban gravity transfers toward north-east which built-up area kept rapid expansion.(3)Through the shift matrix of land use,large numbers of farmland transfers to construction land,account for 78.17%and 78.90 of the total construction land area.The research indicate that, farmland did the most important contribution to urban expansion.(4)"Axis Model","Sprawl expansion model","in-filled expansion process"were showed that spatial sprawl pattern of the core of CQ urban.The built-up area expansion and the spatial-temporal features were mainly attributed to the economic development,the population increase,the proper policies of local governments and the urban planning,natural and geographical environment,as well as the development of traffic infrastructure...
