| Purpose:To use galvino acupuncture to cure lumbar spinal stenosis in a clinical setting, in order to treat this condition without the use of surgery.Method:This study’s focus are patients who suffer from lumbar spinal stenosis.60patients were observed in Wangjing hospital from February2010to February2011. The participants were given a representative number and split into2groups, an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was given galvino acupuncture treatments,10sessions represent1treatment phase. While the control group was given non-galvino acupuncture treatments,10sessions represent1treatment phase. Most patients underwent3treatment phases. During the course of the treatments participants were interviewed and examined. At the end of the treatment process their symptoms were reevaluated and scored. The average course of treatment took3to5months. The experimental and control group’s data and symptom severity comparisons were recorded. All statistical calculations done with the IBM SPSS19.0software.Results:The experimental group’s improvement rate according to the JOA scale was41%, with a correlating trend that demonstrated the more times a patient was treated the greater the improvement. One month treatment interviews showed that according to the JOA scale that patients continued to improve. The control group’s improvement rate was recorded at26%. During the one month treatment interviews the control group also showed continued improvement. The results above reveal that the experimental group’s treatment significantly improved the patients conditions compared to the control group. The patients of both groups reported reduction of symptom severity, also that the more they were treated the better the results. Conclusion:Galvino acupuncture has distinct curative effects on treating lumbar spinal stenosis pain and other symptoms. The treatment is non-invasive, safe, with little or no side effects and therefore easy for patients to withstand. This method is worthy to be clinically used. Yet, the number of subjects tested was small, which reflect that the accuracy and comprehensiveness of this experiment is limited. |
