Objective To investigate the association of exon9of SLC2A9gene109C/T polymorphism with hyperuricemia and diabetes mellitus.Methods585patients in affiliated hospital of medical college of Qingdao university in Shandong province.were enrolled in the study A segment of exon9of SLC2A9gene was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), then all PCR products were digested by restriction enzyme MSPI and a part of PCR products were submitted to DNA sequence analysis. Hardy-Weinberg was used to verify the representativeness of the sample. Comparisons between the groups were performed with x square test and t-testResults The frequencies of CC, CT, and TT genotypes were45.2%,11.5%and43.3%, respectively among the controls.while they were51.2%,10.2%and38.6%, respectively among diabetes mellitus group. in hyperuricemia group was48.4%,8.81%and42.8%, in hyperuricemia and diabetes mellitus group was38.7%,13.4%and47.9%. The genotype frequency in those groups had no statistical significance (P>0.05). Moreover, no association between genoty—pes and risk factors for hyperuricemia and diabetes mellitus were observed in hyperuricemia and diabetes mellitus cases by t-testConclusion Results of the present study suggest that the Exon9of SLC2A9gene109C/T polymorphism is not associated with hyperuricemia and diabetes in population living in the coastal area of Shandong.
