Nowadays, China is in a stage of social transition, a variety conflicts, health care reform in imminent. Patient participation in treatment decision-making has been regarded as a good sign of quality health care and supported by health maintenance organizations in many Western countries health departments and professional. More and more patients are willing to participate in treatment decision-making. The research of current status of patient involvement in decision-making, investigating preference involvement in decision-making, information requirement, and decision-making factors. To provide a theoretical basis to improve the medical environment.Most previous studies of current status of patient participation in decision-making with foreign background. Then in the Chinese context, how about the patient participation in decision-making in current status? According to Trudy van der Weijde’s study of current status of patient participation in decision-making of the Netherlands, we defined the Chinese context of current status of patient participation in decision-making. It includes:patient preference involvement in decision-making, patient perceived involvement in decision-making, the affected factors of patient involvement in decision-making. We choose hospitals in several provinces and cities to investigate. The results show that the Chinese patients have a strong willingness to involve in decision-making, and hope to be active involved in patient participation in medical decision-making. In actual treatment of patient perceived the process of participation in decision-making is weaker than the willingness of patient. So in China, the supply of patient participation in decision making is less than the demand, the doctors should encourage patients to provide more opportunities for patient to involve in decision-making. Regardless of how willingness to involve patient in decision-making, patients have a srong desire for medical information. The patients are more concerned about the recuperation information and information about caring for myself at home. At present, Chinese patients mainly obtain the information from the doctors. The study also proposed a model of patient pariticipation in decision-making factors, using empirical analysis validates the model assumptions, puts forward five factors influence patient participation in decision-making. This paper analysises the status of the patients involved in decsion-making. The research findings can provide inspiration and advice to improve the quality of patient willingness to paticipation in decision-making, to improve patient satisfaction and to reduce medical disputes. |
