[Objective] Through the retrospective study on the development of domestic and international hospice and on the basis of the status of Shanghai current hospice service, in the case of serious shortage of human resources on hospice in China currently the socialized hospice service model is tried to build as to provide unpaid psychological intervention relief for dying patients mainly by social workers or psychological counseling volunteers.The main purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility of the establishment of this service model as well as improvements on hospice system.[Methods] Literature review, questionnaires, focus group interviews and expert consultation are used in this study. The questionnaire is divided into the medical questionnaire and the individual questionnaire. The individual questionnaires include general information, the basic cognitive hospice questionnaire and the socialized way of hospice feasibility questionnaire.Random sampling method is used and532valid questionnaires were collected in. Software(SPSS11.5) is used for statistical analysis, statistical method includes descriptive statistics, chi-square test, analysis of variance.[Results][1]The demand for hospice care in Shanghai is high but lack of relative resources, and contradiction to the current service model is huge.[2]The hospice psychological intervention services are not variously carried out in most of the hospitals.[3] The concerns from hospitals to the psychological needs of dying patients and their families is quite low.[4] Community awareness of the basic hospice knowledge is quite well.[5]Hospice service has widely voluntary basis.[Conclusion] The socialized model of psychological intervention hospice has practical significance and feasibility. As current human resources of hospice is seriously short in China, it should be a good way that medical institutions is to be the main place, psychological counseling is to be important means,social workers and volunteers are to be the main force for the hospice service. The backbone of resident counselors system can be set up by the social workers or psychological counseling volunteers.The model of psychological counseling and other services for dying patients and their unpaid psychological intervention relief should be a realistic way to improve the current psychological needs of dying patients and their families, which could be the breakthrough of hospice on the short-term.
