| Purpose: To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined withcentro-square needling for diabetic peripheral deuropathy(DPN) affecting theextremities.Materials and Methods: A total of50outpatients of DPN affecting theextremities were randomly allocated to treatment group (n=24) and control group(n=26). The control group was punctured by conventional acupoints. The treatmentgroup was punctured by conventional acupoints with centro-square needling. Thetreatment was given once daily with14sessions being a therapeutic course. Thenthe therapeutic effect was compaired after2therapeutic courses. Changes ofclinical symptoms, and the evaluation indexes TCSS was evaluated before and afterthe treatment.Results:1. In treatment and control groups, the total effective rates were91.66%and80.76%and effective rates were66.66%and34.61%respectively. There was asignificant difference between the two groups, i.e., the total effective rateof treatment group was much higher than that of control group(P=0.028).2. Clinical score: the score of TSCC had decreased between the two groups(P=0.000),which showed that both2groups were effective. The score of TSCCand symptom integral between the2groups had statistically significantdifference(P=0.004),which meant that the therapeutic effect of the treatmentgroup was higher than the control group. Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with centro-square needling for DPN affecting theextremities is effective and safe, but the therapeutic mechanism is not clearwhich needs more research. |
