PurposeVascular cognitive impairment (VCI) is usually accompanied abnormal behaviorsand emotions. These dysfunctions lead patient’s ability down on the activities of dailylife (ADL), social interaction and the work. It brings huge negative impacts topatients, their families and society. In the causes of many cognitive impairment anddementia, VCI is recognized as a highly prevalent and preventable and curable type.This article aims to study what affect to the VCI patients through the health beliefmodel in health education.Subject and research methodsConvenience sampling selected92VCI patients as the object of the study. Thesepatients are all from the Neurology in a hospital in Shanxi Province from January toSeptember in2012. Patients chronologically randomly were divided into interventiongroup and the control group.46cases in each group.46patients who werehospitalized in January-May2012is the intervention group and another46patientswho were hospitalized in June-September2012is the control group. The interventiongroup used the routine drug therapy and the healthy education with the health beliefmodel for3months. The control group used routine drug therapy and the traditionalhealth education for3months. Contrast the intervention group’s and the controlgroup’s MMSE scores and ADL scores before and after the intervention. Use T-testbetween the two sets of data.Result1.MMSE scores of the two groups of patients before and after the interventiondifference was statistically significant (P <0.01), the intervention group patients withMMSE score was obviously higher.2. ADL scores of two groups before and after the intervention of difference wasstatistically significant (P <0.01).ADL scores decreased level of intervention grouppatients was significantly greater than the control group.Conclusion1.VCI patients who were taught the health education based on health belief model can improve their patient’s condition, and the patient’s MMSE scores was significantlyhigher.2. VCI patients who were taught the health education based on health belief modelcan improve their activities of daily life.
