Objective:to observe the Basic information such as gender, age, syndromes of the geriatric depression, peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and monoamine neurotransmitter levels in patients with different stages of depression symptoms, so as to understand the characteristics of the geriatric depression, the various syndromes stage variation of T lymphocyte subsets the correlation of Monoamine neurotransmitters and T lymphocyte subsets. Methods:With A case-control study method, we observed a total of150cases in elderly patients with depression, which inclund19cases of the empirical group-19patients in sydrome of liver-qi stagnation;52cases of the deficiency mixed group-21patients in Liver depression and Spleen,31patients in Liver stagnation and phlegm retention;79cases of the deficiency syndrome group-11patients in deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome,68patients in disharmony of heart and kidney.50normal elderly were compared and analyzed. We Observed the differences of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets-CD3, CD4, CD8and CD4/CD8in different syndromes and symptom stages,as well as the correlation of Monoamine neurotransmitters and T lymphocyte subsets. We used SPSS17.0statistical software for statistical analysis.Results:(1)The proportion of men and women is1:3.65in elderly patients with depression, women were significantly higher than men, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01);(2)Different stage patients with depression syndrome with course of disease have difference(P<0.01), the various stratified by age TCM proportion of the waiting stage (P<0.01);(3)The different syndromes percentage of elderly patients with depression were:liver Qi stagnation occupied12.7%, Liver depression and Spleen occupied14%, Liver stagnation and phlegm retention occupied20.7%deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome occupied7.3%, disharmony of heart and kidney occupied45.3%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);(4) The different symptom stages percentage of elderly patients with depression were:12.7%of the empirical group deficiency mixed group of34.7%and52.6%deficiency group difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);(5) The CD3in patient group reduced compared with the normal control group (P<0.05), the CD4slightly higher than the normal control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). the CD8significantly reduced compared with the normal control group(P<0.01), the CD4/CD8increased significantly compared with the normal control group (P<0.01)(6) The level of peripheral blood T lymphocyte in patients of different symptom stages were different. The comparison of CD3between different syndrome stages in patients, even the comparison of CD3between different syndrome stages and the normal control group:the CD3in deficiency mixed group was lower than the normal control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);The comparison of CD8between different syndrome stages in patients, even the comparison of CD8between different syndrome stages and the normal control group:the CD8in empirical groups was lower than the normal control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the CD8in deficiency mixed group and deficiency group were significantly lower than the normal control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01);The comparison of CD4/CD8between different syndrome stages in patients, even the comparison of CD4/CD8between different syndrome stages and the normal control group: the CD4/CD8in deficiency mixed group and the deficiency group were significantly higher than the normal control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01); the CD4/CD8in empirical group and the deficiency group were lower than the deficiency mixed group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).(7) The correlation between5-HT and T lymphocyte subsets:the5-HT in patient was related with the CD8, CD4/CD8of T lymphocyte subsets (P<0.01, P<0.05);(8) The correlation between DA and T lymphocyte subsets:the DA in patient was related with the CD8, CD4/CD8of T lymphocyte subsets (P<0.01, P<0.05).(9) The correlation between NE and T lymphocyte subsets:no correlation was found between NE and T lymphocyte subsets(P>0.05).Conclusion:Elderly patients with depression is in female-dominated; the patient’s condition was gradually worsening trend with age;the main syndrome type were Liver stagnation and phlegm retention and disharmony of heart and kidney;the main syndrome stage were deficiency mixed group and deficiency group; patient’s immune function changed a lot with the normal control group, there is a significant change with patient’s immune function, who is in deficiency mixed group or deficiency group. neurotransmitters was related with immune function, mainly between neurotransmitters and CD8, CD4/CD8.
