Facial paralysis disease, also known as facial neuritis or peripheral facial paralysis, belongs to the Department of Neurology and is a common disease, which can occur at any age, but more common among young people. The disease can occur at any season but mostly in spring and autumn. Its etiology and pathogenesis have not yet been fully elucidated. There are two main doctrines:the virus infection or viral infection, however, there is no strong evidence to support this theory; the mastoid hole in the stem of the facial nerve suffers cold and spasms, causing local nerve tissue edema, compression, ischemia, or causing local blood circulation problem to trigger this disease. This disease always outbreaks suddenly with common incident of one side of the face. Clinical multi-manifestations: ipsilateral facial muscles, numbness, paralysis, the amount of grain disappears, eye fission, incomplete eyelid closure, exposed eye tears (commonly known as the crocodile tears) and shallowing of the nasolabial fold, drooping mouth twisted to the contralateral, not frown, and toothy. The disease belongs to traditional medicine categories of " eye and mouthoblique "," remote port "," facial paralysis ". Traditional medicine believes the facial paralysis disease are always caused by emptiness in veins without enough protection and coldness invasion, which results in gas block, meridian dystrophy, musculoskeletal over-relaxation. The treatment principles are to expel wind and cold, dredge the meridianFacial paralysis disease is a common disease. Because the illness can greatly impact the appearance of patient’s personal image and cause great suffering to patient physically and mentally with a direct impact on patients’daily life and social activities, the research on the right and efficient treat solution becomes the hot spot in facial paralysis disease area121.In traditional medicine, acupuncture treatment of facial paralysis has a long history and is more effective. On January1,1998, the American Medical Association officially included acupuncture in the common medical procedure coding, believing it is a formal and most effective treatment of facial paralysis disease. A large number of studies have shown that acupuncture treatment of facial paralysis disease has better clinical efficacy. The study suggests that acupuncture can improve microcirculation, enhance metabolism and physiological function, improve the nutrition of the facial nerve, strengthen the ability of nerve regeneration, and thus treat the paralysis disease efficientlyCupping therapy has been through continuous improvement and development, and the scope of its treatment continues to expand. Cupping therapy theory is based on the meridian theory of traditional medicine, which has the following functions:1. Resist outside invasion and protect body2, enhance blood circulation, dredge the meridians,3. adjust the inner blood and balance Yin/Yang4, reflect the disease and assist diagnosis. Cupping techniques in the treatment of facial paralysis have following main benefits:1. do not leave a "mark" in the face;2, with improve the effect of the facial meridian runs and blood circulation;3, With Cupping suction of the facial muscles, adjust the nerves and blood vessels, restoring its normal function.(Purpose)1, For the first time evaluate the efficacy of compiling both Acupuncture and Cupping treatment of facial paralysis disease (facial neuritis). The randomized control intends to explore more on Acupuncture and Cupping treating facial paralysis disease and find out the mechanism.2, standardize methods of acupuncture treatment of facial paralysis disease:the industry has various treatment methods, but did not has its own norm. The research invites different acupuncture experts to discuss, standardize and points selection method.3, under the guidance of instructor Wang Kejiang, students design and develop "Electric Air Leading cupping machine", which is the first domestic electric cupping machine used in the treatment. It combines traditional cupping with modern technology, reducing the risks of traditional cupping experimental, increasing experiment normative, simplifying the cupping operating procedures in order to effectively avoid the occurrence of medical malpractice.(method)The study strictly follows the research method and all clinical observations are completed in2012.07to2013.04in the Xiyuan Hospital under China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture. By simple randomized controlled method, the study establishes a treatment group (Acupuncture and Cupping France) with the control group (acupuncture) of30cases,evaluating and appraising by the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery House-Brachmann rating scale, and with reference to the Japanese facial nerve evaluation criteria "degree evaluation of facial nerve paralysis" with the purpose of learning clinical efficacy of cupping treatment on facial paralysis disease.Acupuncture treatment methods:the main points, acupoints, acupoints with the disease. The main point:Qu Fei Chi, Yang Bai, Yi Feng, Sun, Xia Guang, Quan Liao, Ying Xiang, Di Cang, Xia Che, He Fu. acupoints:Da Zhui, Wai Guan, Zu San Li, Can Zhu, Yu Yao, and Si Zhu Kong. Acupoints with the disease: Ren Zhong tilt added Ren Zhong, Chan Chun Gou tilt added Cheng Jiang, taste mub disappeared or tongue numbness added Lian Quan, wind-tear or red eyes added Jing Ming. Acupuncture technics:release on Feng Chi, He Gu and select2to3group points for acupuncture such as Yang Bai-Yu Yao, Can Zhu-Qing Ming, Xia Che-Di Cang. Acupoints should be few and should be light to stimulate at the beginning, and gradually increase after a week. Acupuncture techniques:nurish it if empty, release it if too full", keep the needle for25min [6]. The treatment group includes "Electric Air Leading cupping machine" on the basis of acupuncture, focusing in patient’s side face and following up to bottom order:patient frontal facial cheek jaw repeating suction, pulling, shaking and removal until local area skin flush and temperature slightly increase. Ever operation last for3to5minutes. For ear pain patients, cupping can stay in Yi Feng Point for5more minutes. The above treatment should be operated three times per week and every other day; every six times count as a cycle of treatment with total of four cycles, total time eight weeks. After full treatment, efficacy is evaluated.(Results)The treatment group has30patients, among which14males and16females, the oldest77years old and the youngest22years of age, with an average age of39.07years old;4light cases,15mild cases,,11severe cases. The control group also has30patients, among which16males and14females, the oldest58years old, the youngest22years of age and the average age was39.3years old;4light cases,16mild cases,10severe cases. Two groups has no difference in gender (P=0.610), age (P=0.389) and initial score before treatment (P=0.511); the two groups are comparable (P>0.05).Through comparison between symptoms before and after treatment compiled with the comparison between two groups, it indicates the two groups treatment efficacy has significant different P=0.016<0.05(P <0.05). Therefore, the treatment of facial paralysis disease (facial neuritis), combination between Acupuncture and Cupping therapy is superior to simple acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture and Cupping combination therapy can significantly improve the cure rate.(Conclusion)1, Acupuncture and Cupping combination therapy has high clinical efficacy. The study also proves that Acupuncture and Cupping combination therapy has higher cure rate, more economical saving, convenient and no side-effect and can be operated as one of the effective treatments for curing facial paralysis disease (facial neuritis). The combination therapy is worthy clinical application.
