Math anxiety has been concerning by many psychologists and educators since nearly halfthe century. Studies found that there is also a math anxiety phenomenon in our domesticcountry. There are a considerable number of people who are afraid of math. Studies foundthat excessive math anxiety could not only affect the students’ positive self-concept, but couldalso affect an individual’s cognitive ability, make damages to the mental skills of the students,At the same time, it could damage the good mood of the students, make them become anxious,nervous, uneasy, and even make the individuals have series of abnormal physiologicalresponses including rapid heartbeat, headache and so on.Therefore, excessive math anxiety can affect students’ cognitive, emotion, behavior andother aspects , and some harms will be shown after a long time, Therefore, excessivemathematical anxiety must be early intervention to ensure that students’ physical and mentalcan develope healthy and comprehensively .This study is based on previous research results on the theory and practice of math anxiety,use "independent samples measuring before and after "experimental design to investigate thefeasibility and effectiveness of psychological counseling intervention in junior high schoolstudents of high mathematics anxiety . Methods: select two classes of first grade, one is thegroup psychological counseling class, which is given a period of six group psychologicalcounseling, and the other one is the controlled class. Each class has 43 students. "MathematicsAnxiety Scale were measured to the two classes of students before and after the grouppsychological counseling. Results: Overall, the two classes of the students’ math anxietylevels have no significant differences, however, the math anxiety level of the high mathanxiety group in the group psychological counseling class is lower than that in the controllingclass, including the total score, the emotional concerns, and the test anxiety dimensionscore , there are statistically significant.Generally speaking, group psychological counseling can effectively alleviate the anxietylevel of the high math anxiety.
