Doris Lessing, the winner of the2007Nobel Prize for literature, is called “the oldgrandmother of the English literature” and “the greatest female writers after VirginiaWoolf”. Her creation cares the existence of each individual, advocates the freedom oftheir developments. She has been using her literature creations to represent every personwho needs assistance in life; the themes of her creations cover almost all the aspects oftoday’s social political and economic area; they also involve ordinary women’s psychicperplexity about family, birth and love. Based on the traces of western traditionalfreedom notion, this thesis then touches upon the exquisite analysis about the issues offreedom in Doris Lessing’s works, especially the freedom about the others and women.In combs and analysis in the Lessing’s several significant works, returns to a realLessing who has grown under the background of western culture but is unique in thearea of international and human.
