The book of Hu Mei Cong Tan is a collection of classical Chinese stories inscribed by Yang Er Zeng, who was the owner of a bookstore in Hangzhou in Ming dynasty.131fox stories from pre-Qin dynasty to Ming dynasty were collected in the book, which were from books, notes, history books, popular fictions and other29kinds of books in Han, Jin, Tang, Song,Yuan, Ming dynasties. Among them, Tai Ping Guang Ji and works written by people from Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces in Ming dynasty are the main source of materials. The book of Hu Mei Cong Tan was not simply getting together the dynasties of fox stories, but using ways of compilation like increase, delete, changes, excerpts, integration, etc., reflecting the author’s unique cultural thinking. The stories collected in the book of Hu Mei Cong Tan was colorful, especially the lewd but enchanting fox, the haunting fox, the predictive fox and Buddhist or Taoist’s type fox had a high proportion, which reflected fox stories and fox culture’s developing tendency. The book of Hu Mei Cong Tan is the only Chinese literature classical stories collection putting fox as the theme, which played an important role in Chinese literature development, and had a profound impact on the creation of fox literature later.
