The current classroom instruction of advanced spoken Chinese teaching as a second language (TCSL) is not without its problems. Therefore, this dissertation is going to give a more reasonable teaching method. Based on certain literatures and previous researches, Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) will be introduced to advanced spoken Chinese teaching. Moreover, the teaching method which is suitable for classroom teaching is to be designed with the author’s teaching practice.The dissertation is of five sections. Section one, the introduction is about the background and purpose of this thesis. Theoretical foundation of TBLT is introduced in this section; simultaneously the domestic research status of TBLT is discussed consulting to related documents. Also, TBLT is proved to be suitable for spoken C teaching in this section. Section two illustrates task designing of TBLT through task definition, task categories, Task design principle and task elements to provide theoretical basis for the application of TBLT. Section three analyses task based approach in order to get suitable mission mode for advanced spoken Chinese. Section four carries on teaching design on advanced spoken TCSL. In this section, theory is integrated with practice. Section five summarizes that TBLT can make the class more interesting and efficient. However, deficiencies do exist and need to be studied in the future.
