The study is based on the theory of Action Research and Language LearningStrategies.According to the action research steps:finding,identifing and analysingproblems,designing solutions,action and reflection,the study describes the process andresult of two Chinese listening strategy trainings.Firstly,some problems were discovered inthe Chinese Listening and Speaking class,when the foreign students were doing thelistening practice.According to the language level and learning situation of thesestudents,the listening strategy training was conducted to solve these problems.The trainingincludes associating strategy,guessing and reasoning strategy,key-word strategy,and writingstrategy.For the assessment,Formative assessment and Summative assessment areapplied.The results of the first training indicate that,the training solved the problemsbasically and improved the listening abilities of these Chinese learners.However,they didn’thave clear awareness of using these trategies.For improving the results,another trainingwas conducted. based on the daily listening teaching,a new training and teaching modeland some new training methods were designed and applied.And the results indicated thatthe listening abilities were improved more than that in the first time.The new trainingmodel can be used widely in the daily listening class,and it makes the class more effective.Action research requires the continual reflection and exploration to improve theteaching quality,it also makes the teaching skills and research capacity develop. Hopefully,the listening strategy training models and methods will be useful to the Chinese listeningteaching.
